August 12th – From Pen to Print – How to Have Your Book Published 2:00 to 4:00 at the Grand Victorian

International literary agents, Sandra Pareja (Casanova and Lynch) and Emma Price (Silvia Bastos) lead a workshop on the steps writers must take upon completing a work. From the editing process to the day your book comes out in print, there are a thousand steps. Do publishers read the manucripts you send them? Should you work with an agent? How do you find an agent? As a new writer, how do you grab a publisher’s attention?

Join us for refreshments and conversation at the Grand Victorian.

Participation in the workshop is free.

August 20th – Bookbinding at the Grand Victorian from 2:00 to 4:00

Ever wonder how to bind your own book? Now is the time to learn. Published children’s author, and artist, Jennifer Brown leads a workshop on the age old art of bookbinding.

A fee of 25$ is collected to cover supplies. Maximum of 12 participants.


Micro Greek: Where does your language come from? August 16 and 23 at 11 am at the Grand Victorian

Our writer-in-residence, Mary Norris, is writing a book on the Greek language. Participants will look at the Greek alphabet, learn some basic vocabulary, celebrate the many English words that are derived from Greek, and seek out references to Greek mythology in everyday life.

August 27th – The Mythmaker’s Salon, 8:00 P.M.

Revel in a night of mythmakers as we celebrate the power of the Myth through word, song and dance at Island Chocolates. Our writer-in-residence, Mary Norris will present info from her new book on Greece, the myths and etymology of the Greek culture.

Followed by dancer and chereographer Julie Sauvet and music by  Hélène Bergeron and Albert Arsenault, formerly of Barachois.

Remarkable cocktails and delightful tastes will be available through Island Chocolates.

Tickets are 25$ and doors open at 7:30.
